I was wondering how many Hilburn mandolins have been made and am interested in any information their owners care to share.I have an A that I love.

I have F # 34 and A # 39.
Both are great !!
# 34 has lots of air miles...spent a lot of time in West Africa....Angola
Both have been pictured on the site here, but I don't know how to include a link to the thread(s).
Both mandos were built for me and they couldn't have turned out better. I always look forward to seeing the newest Hilburn sitting in "The Chair" ! #Thanks , Jim !
Ask Jim Hilburn how many he has built. Look for one of Jim's posts on the Cafe and click the PM icon.
I went to his website, but he has not updated it since July of 2005 and at that time the count was 35. I know he has posted photos of them with numbers in the 40's.

I believe #46, pictured in the photo section, is his latest. His next one is going to a friend of mine here in NM.
Not sure about how many mandolins he's built but I do know that he and Pat serve some of the best Saturday morning pancakes you'll ever come across!
I've been visiting family in Texas and just saw this.
I am building # 45 and #47 right now and 46 is completed and living in Brooklyn.
However the first one that was owned by someone else was #17. #1 through 16 were made during my hobby days and while several are mandolins I made acoustic and electric guitars and basses as well. Whatever I felt like making at the time.
Also, I play #20 and # 19 was an experiment that didn't work out too well so it's a wallhanger. I think that adds up to 26 instruments owned by others. there are 6 people who own 2 or more. There were 7 but one guy sold one of his so he could get a Gilchrist.
