This morning I pulled out the Fern for my pre-work workout and I was amazed at how great it sounded. I changed the strings on Saturday (J74s) and put in a little time with it over the weekend (an hour maybe, busy weekend). I could tell the new strings were still settling in, with several re-tunes required during that hour or so of playing, and it didn't have that "dialed-in" tone. However, this morning it sounded so good! Then I noticed that the humidity in the case had fallen to 38%. I shoot for 40-42%, but after a weekend in the dry desert air I have been slowly bringing it back to my target zone.
So my question is...what ideal humidity do you shoot for? And do you notice large differences in tone with a +/- 5% change in humidity?
