    Unhappy

I want to replace the very bad machine tuners on my short scale Bouzouki with some moderately priced ones as the ones furnished are really bad. Will these be the same as for an A type mandolin? If not, any one know where to get a fairly inexpensive set that actually works? See picture attached--Thanks!

    Dan -

You might want to post this on the Builders Forum - probably get some very informative answers from the guys and gals who work with this stuff all the time.

    Dan,
another thing to do is measure the distance between the posts and compare with tuning machines from a supplier like Stewart-MacDonald for example.

You're going to need 4 on a side tuners for a slotted headstock. If I'm not mistaken you just got this instrument...you may as well try living with the stock tuners a while. I've got one of those Lark octaves and they require a bit of a sense of humor to enjoy. The top is cedar and the best thing about the instrument (Mine, anyway) is the smell.

Make sure that if you purchase any that they are specifically for a slotted headstock. The subject of the rare slotted headstock mando/zouk tuner can be further researched here:
