    Hey Guys,
my Collings MT2 has developed a bow in it's neck. It's a couple of years old and the neck has never been touched. Have any of you had experience with adjusting a Collings? If so what size key do they use? How much relief should there be? I am used to fixing my guitars, but have never adjusted a mandolin rod!

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Regards from Scotland, Alister

    Here's some info.
Can't help you with the key size.

Collings says their guitars have a 5/32" truss rod wrench. Might be the same for their mandolins.

I had a good look round the Colling's web site, info on guitars as you say JB, but next to nothing on mandolin!
I was just wondering if there is a standard truss rod size for mandolin?

I can't remember the size for a Collings mando, but I can assure you there's no standard for mandolins. It is usually a 1/4" or 5/16" nut driver, but sometimes it's an Allen wrench, and if so that's usually metric, often 5mm, sometimes smaller.

I also use a nut driver. You may want to remove the nut and apply some grease first.
Make small turns. DON'T do it in a day!
    Good Luck.

Thanks folks, I telephoned Collings, and it's a Gibson hex style, I had one that came with a J45 years ago!
Managed to fix it, it had quite a bow and the truss rod was offering no resistance, it was almost loose!
    Should have bought a Gibson?

    Just kidding!

    Thanks, Alister
