To test you can also revisit any past message that you posted. Your avatar is always applied to every message you have posted on the forum.

hmmm...can't see my avatar, and I'm getting a "file failed to upload" message...
*never mind...: ) it was only in the "edit avatar" mode...I can see it in "live."

That happens after you've uploaded it once and hit save changes a second time . Often, it's because there was no file set to upload. Right now your avatar is visible as NE Pats themed one. I did this a handful of times too.
