Default Ralph Carter and Keith Whitley! Incredible.

Should be Ralph Stanley (not Carter, his older brother -- also gone)

Two better voices are cannot be found. Here is a three-fer!

Here are three songs "I've just seen the rock of ages" and "beautiful star of Bethelem" and "nobody's love is like mine". Its amazing how their voices meld.

I have not started to look for this but what records does Ralph have out with Keith?

Sad that we should lose such a voice so soon. This should be a classic video for singing - IMO.

Very nice. And it was fun to pull up the other Keith vids. No telling what he would have done had he lived.

I have a cool show, 1972, Keith, Pat Cloud, Jimmy Gaudreau. Very excellent. Keith introduces JG "on the leetle geetar, sings like a girl."

I might have missed something...why are you calling him Ralph Carter?
    Shouldn't that be Ralph Stanley?
Anyway that great video should date somewhere around 1977. Spectacular harmonies!

Do a search for that era with Whitley and Skaggs as Clinch Mountain Boys. I've seen several on YouTube and I believe some live stuff on archive.org, if my mind remembers correctly?

Also check out Second Generation Bluegrass, recording of Ricky Skaggs and Whitley channeling the Stanleys. Keith will surely be missed for a long time.

LOVE that version of Beautiful Star. Keith's voice was such a great fit for them.

The Stanley Brothers (and the Clinch Mountain Boys, after Carter died) really float my boat. The harmonies and the feeling in their music is like nothing else to me - so deep and so primal.

    It sure looks like him.
Anyway, for another great recording of Ralph & CMB with Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs, I highly recommend "Echoes of the Stanley Brothers" CD.
Roy Lee Centers on that one too, and he sounds more like Carter than anyone I ever heard...an absolutely fantastic recording.

I've been listening to the Stanley Brothers a lot lately. Carter and Ralph just blended so well as siblings tend to do. Ralph's harmonies are unique to Ralph.

I remember reading about Roy Lee Centers as sounding almost exactly like Carter. Another great sounding Clinch Mountain Boy shortly after Carter died, was the young Larry Sparks.

Thanks Bernie. I have that old vinyl record with the green cover called "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" with all these cuts on it. It was already a delete and out of print when I bought it out of a record store bin. My brother and I just about went nuts the first time we heard Keith and Ralph singing together. It is so great that YouTube allows that stuff to live on.

In addition to playing outstanding music, did this group set the record for most pompadours in a bluegrass band?

There is a nice double disc with Ralph, Roy Lee Centers, Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs called "Classic Stanley". Mostly live. Great Stuff.

I was watching Curley Ray, and it made me want to buy a keychain. I never did buy one from him, and it is way to late now. (or is one on Ebay?)

BTW, the guitar player is not Ricky Lee. I am fairly sure it is Renfro Profit. Ricky Lee was a tall blond fella. It could also be Junior Blankenship, but not certain.

I just have gone through the whole tape...Ralph introduces all the members of the band, and it's indeed Mr. Profitt on guitar.
