    Default The Third Generation does Classic BG!

    Well.......except for some of the breaks....

    But some great BG by a truckload of third generation players:
    The Old Crossroads with:

    Mandolins galore: Thile (vocals), Jesse Cobb, and Jason Norris;
    Fiddles: Phoebe Hunt, Brittany Haas, and Odessa Jorgensen (vocals);
    Dobro: Andy Hall!
    Guitar: Mike Mickelson

    And loads more -- nice performance IMO.

    BRILLIANT ! - Chris Thile never ceases to amaze me when he gets away from the stuff he normally does to play good Bluegrass Mandolin - when i say GOOD,i really mean it doesn't get any better & he sure likes the 'broken headstock' look.
    I understand that for a musician of his stature,being 'confined' to Bluegrass music limits his musical exploratory nature - that's fine by me.But like AKUS,i wish that once in a while he'd really cut a good Bluegrass album out for us. Thanks for the clip - it's now downloaded to my PC & i'll be 'playing along with it' later today ,

    Weber F-5 'Fern'.
    Lebeda F-5 "Special".
    Stelling Bellflower BANJO
    Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
    Ellis DeLuxe "A" style.

    Nice picking and funny to see Thile desperately trying to do Monroeisms. Heīs getting close. Lacks some punch, though. He has a good mandolin, needless to say.

    Itīs the Infamous Stringdusters on stage too.

    Bernie, on guitar is also Andy Falco, the Stringdusterīs guitar player.

    I liked his guitar playing best. Itīs original and not a Rice clone (you canīt get better than Tony Rice when you try to play like Tony Rice, so itīs best to stick with your own stuff).
