    Default Blue Highway in Berkeley - Shawn Lane!

    Just saw Blue Highway last night at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. Fantastic show from those guys as always. If you're not familiar with the Freight, it's tiny, perhaps 250 people.

    You know, I've always thought Shawn Lane was a tremendous singer and very good mandolin player, but he was amazing last night! He ranged from the sweetest, tastiest licks to flat out burning it up on the likes of Little Maggie and Reuben. Perfect tone, lovely note selection, and freight train rhythm.

    Shawn Lane is my favorite bluegrass mandolinist by far. His playing is smooth, precise, and to the point. Every note he plays has a meaning and a place, and his tone awesome.
