Don't sweat it, 'nuff said. If I could delete my post, I would. Moving on ...

I knew the show had been discussed before, but it looks lie it's been a while. This thread started a bit rough, went up and down, and dug even further down. It's a heckuva ride.

Here's the lineup for this season. My station runs these out of sequence, may not run some. Because I've already seen Asleep At The Wheel and Watkins Family. Maybe they're in the middle of running episodes a second time. I'm glad they run it at all; not the show's market.

    Season 11 episodes

    S11 E1 · Moon Taxi· Sep 10, 2022
    S11 E2 · Molly Tuttle· Sep 17, 2022
    S11 E3 · Cha Wa · Sep 24, 2022
    S11 E4 · Shooter Jennings · Oct 1, 2022
    S11 E5 · Buffalo Nichols · Oct 8, 2022
    S11 E6 · Katie Pruitt · Oct 15, 2022
    S11 E7 · Watkins Family Hour · Oct 22, 2022
    S11 E8 · Gangstagrass · Oct 29, 2022
    S11 E9 · Milk Carton Kids · Nov 5, 2022
    S11 E10 · Adia Victoria · Nov 12, 2022
    S11 E11 · Asleep at the Wheel · Nov 19, 2022
    S11 E12 · Brit Taylor · Nov 26, 2022
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. - Dennis Miller

Finders Keepers, my duo with the astoundingly talented and versatile Patti Rothberg. Our EP is finally done, and available! PM me, while they last!

Well, friends, I have had this date circled on my calendar for a couple of weeks, since they announced on their fb page. Now it's finally here.

Larkin Poe - Jimmy Kimmel, Monday 3/20

Folks who've been around here a while know them as 2/3 of The Lovell Sisters, and that Rebecca Lovell is an excellent award-winning mandolinist. And they also know that this is not that - this is an electric blues duo, which has evolved into a blues band. Rebecca plays guitar and Megan has switched from dobro to lap steel, played standing up. But they are very good at what they do, and Rebecca has grown to be a hell of a singer. So tune in and dig it.

    Now, for actual MC, there's

Nickel Creek - Jimmy Kimmel, Wednesday 3/22

And if that weren't enough (how would it be)

Nickel Creek - CBS Saturday Morning, Saturday 3/25, where they'll get two songs, as well as a bit of an informational feature

The musical segment comes at the end of the show, beginning around 8:35/8:40 AM EDT, ending about 8:57 as they roll the credits over the second half of the second song.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. - Dennis Miller

Just a wee reminder, Larkin Poe on Kimmel tonight, starting probably around 12:30 AM. Turns out it's not their network debut - they were on Conan back in 2016, and on CBS Saturday Morning two years ago. But it's still pretty rare. Here's a recent live track, give you a taste.

A little thin on the Mandolin, IMO. Is there a sonic reason why he would not be using the Loar?

BTW-Have the new CD on its way, and got Tix for a show in July. Big Nickel Creek fan here.

Well, it's a band, not The Chris Thile Show, so he's just a team member, and not the lead performer on the song they chose.

As to why he does what with which - it's always been a bit mysterious. He's the only one who knows.

Probably because it's a song he plays mandola on.

Just came across John Reischman and the Jaybirds on the "Live from the Old Steeple"
    https://www.pbs.org/show/live-old-steeple/

Not an advance notice though. First I'd heard about this show from Ferndale CA (Humboldt County).

    It's an airbnb also:

Now, to be fair, I doubt there will be any MC. But tune in anyway for an interview with the great singer/songwriter, and BTW, strong rhythm guitarist (former, now, sadly). There'll be a feature on Paul Simon, too.

CBS Sunday Morning 9 - 10:30 AM EDT
Lee Cowan talks with singer Lucinda Williams about her recovery from a stroke three years ago; the hard-won success she's achieved from her lyrical gifts; and why she finds it hard to accept the adulation that's coming to her late in life. https://cbsn.ws/43XrjQb

My speculation is that it was on Jimmy Kimmel, whose 1.5 million viewers are not primarily mandolin fans. So they chose something the general public would perhaps be able to get into a little easier. They would pick something different at a BG festival or mandolin week at Swannanoa. But ultimately, it is only Thile that knows.

Also, I have come to believe that Chris Thile is a musician first, and a mandolin player second. I don't mean he doesn't primarily play mandolin, but only that it is his chosen vehicle to something bigger.
A talent for trivializin' the momentous and complicatin' the obvious.

Probably no MC, but lots of fans of him/them here:

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit on Austin City Limits tonight. Check your local listings.

We've got this on the DVR waiting for us. Isbell is a gem. Saw him once a couple years ago, and have a number of his discs. Pretty sure no mandolin content, but he is an eloquent poet. He gets pretty dark at times - but still beautiful.

It was a great set. Yes, all electric geetars. I didn't know he played so much lead. He and the other guy got into some righteous riffing.

Sarah Jarosz on CBS Saturday Morning. I don't know if she plays mandolin much these days, concentrating more on her singing and songwriting. Performers are getting three songs these days, up from the longstanding two - well, the third song goes into the credits - and whether she will incorporate the mandolin into such a short time frame is questionable. Guess you have to tune in to see.

The first song Sarah is playing a guitar shaped octave, capo’d on the 4th fret. Her peg head tuner is covering up the makers name.

Cool song! Haven’t heard it until now.

Not too shabby! She plays a lead on the second songs.

Sorry about the late notice. I'm still adjusting to the different screen times for TV shows here. I'm used to this ending at 9 AM; here it starts at 9, so I'm tuning in a little before 11 AM. I thought network shows ran at the same time, but I guess affiliates have options.

I'm psyched for next week's guest - Nick Lowe with Los Straitjackets.

Thanks for fixing my pic. It uploaded sideways. That was from her last (credits) song... not capo'd. Really fun performance!

It started at 6am for me (pst- seattle network).

I'm posting this now even though it's a week away, just in case I forget between now and then -

Saturday Feb. 3 on CBS News Saturday Morning - Chris Thile and Billy Strings. A rare feature of acoustic-oriented music on this show. And I have to say there's no guesswork about this - 100% chance of mandolin content.

The musical segment is last on the show, starting usually some time around 20-25 minutes (depending) before the end. What I mean is, if the show starts at 7 AM in your area, tune in around 8:35-8:40. (I'm still getting used to the broadcast time of 9 AM here, two hours later than what I'm used to.) You might want to tune in a bit earlier to catch the restaurant/cooking segment, often a lot of fun.

I'll try to remember to repost this later in the week.

Also, if your PBS station carries "Cavern Sessions" (FKA "Bluegrass Underground"), this week's artist is Watchhouse. Check your local listings - this seems to be a randomly occurring appearance here.
