I noticed on eBay that someone is selling an Ovation mandocello.

I'm currently playing a single-strung six-string mandoguitar, using a .053 on the bass for C2, and the tone is quite acceptable at a 25.5" scale length. The scale length on the Ovation mandocello is 25.25", both on the one for auction and the current ones being made. The nut on the auction instrument is supposedly 1.68" wide, compared to 1.125" on the current instruments. That seems a little wide to me, but the auction states that it was originally purchased 6-8 years ago, so maybe they hadn't started making thinner necks at that point for such things.

I've owned a few Ovation guitars in the past, and I recently reached the conclusion that a shallow-bowl Ovation guitar will make a good candidate for an upcoming mando conversion project. I'm not about to buy this one, but as the current price is well below the normal discount price of $1900US on a new one, I thought it worth mentioning.

Cheers!
