I'm about to take possession of a fabulous new Brock F5. Believe me I can't wait. I've never had varnish finished instrument before. I usually just occasionally wipe the dust off my instrument and again after playing, wipe down the strings and the area that my arm was resting on with a cotton cloth. Anything else I should do or should know in the caring and feeding of a varnished instrument compared to a lacquered one?

A fiddlemaker in Lexington, KY turned me onto Hill cleaner/polish. Non abrasive for use on violin varnish. I use it on my fiddles (my mandos are all lacquer) and prefer it 100 times more than Fiddlebrite, which always feels oily to me.
The Hill cleans well and leaves a nice gloss luster that's not greasy when wiped away well.

David Harvey's Jubilee Varnish Polish and Cleaner. #Either contact David directly or I'm guessing Gibson sells it too. #It's what Gibson recommends for varnish finish.
Dry spare T shirt. Moisture, like sweaty player, wasnt good for the back of my '21 Gibson A.
