    I think this was at Fred Oster's Vintage Instruments in Philadelphia in 2005. Here is the description:
    CARBONARI, PASQUALE, Mandolin, c.1900, An Italian mandolin in excellent and good playing condition,. The spruce top and soundhole edged in tortoise shell with fancy mother of pearl inlays, the tortoise shell scratch plate decorated with mother of pearl flower ornaments, the round back of 19 rosewood ribs interspersed with maple, the lower end decorated with rosewood ornaments, excellent straight ebony neck, the ebony fingerboard with 17 good frets and mother of pearl inlays, the ebony head decorated with rosewood ornaments, the enclosed machine heads with ivory tuners and metal cover engraved with flower ornaments, ebony brass and mother of pearl bridge, metal nut, the lyre shape metal string cover engraved and figuring two fishes, a harlequin and flower ornaments, in a wooden case, bearing the original label: Premiata Fabbrica di Mandolini Excelsior di Pasquale Carbonari, Napoli, (Our #26597) $2,500.
