Along this same thought - Does anyone know of online mandolin lessons similar to Jamplay for guitar? A lot of their lessons are quite helpful for guitar and it would be great if there is also something similar for mando.

    check out:
    - mike compton online lessons
    - Bluegrass College online lessons and
    - Lessons with Troy

Actually, I'm not positive Troy has mandolin content, but it may be coming soon.

I can personally vouch for the first two.

Mike's lessons are great if you are into bluegrass, old country blues, monroe-style, etc.

I agree with the Mike Compton on-line. They're real time face to face feedback. Mike's a great guy and a patient teacher. He'll get you going in the right direction with some challenging and rewarding tunes.

Hi, Denny. I live in Bettendorf and would be glad to get together with you sometime. I'm not a teacher per se but I'd be glad to play some tunes with you and talk about your playing. I'm thinking about starting a monthly mandolin session at Mojo's in the RME the first Thursday of the month. That might be of interest to you, too. I also highly recommend Mike Compton if you're interested in Monroe and traditional-style playing. Even if you aren't, it's a great place to start. PM me if you want to get together.
