From a band I was in in the 80's, the Skyline Drifters. Don't laugh too hard.

Laugh? Geez Pete that was a really good performance. I've loved that song ever since I heard Hazel and Alice's recording of it a bazillion years ago. I had know idea that was written by Bill Monroe...that's probably why I like it so much...thanks for that info and the cool video.

Okay, maybe you guys' outfits look a little goofy but that was the style at the time...I think we all looked a bit goofy back then.

Very nice -- I love your band and the sound -- takes me back to when I was just learning about bluegrass -- wonderful days for me! What is the story on you mandolin -- came through pretty nice.

Laugh, you must be kidding! That sounded great! Really like the arrangements, and super solid playing and singing all around.

That mandolin is a Steven Andersen. I played that one for years, sounded good over a PA. The only reason I gave it up and got a Gilchrist is it had very little power and was very quiet in jams. The Gil sounds better and has plenty of power.

Thanks all for the nice comments. I'll post more videos soon.

Tell the story of how you came about that unrecorded Monroe song. Very nice.

I think Jo Miller (bands lead singer) heard it on a Hazel Dickens recording or maybe a jam recording? Sorry, it has been so long.

The Skyline Drifters broke up in the mid 80's. Jo went on to form Ranch Romance and other bands, I went on to play with millions of bands nobody will ever hear. The bass player Greg Glassman and I play Jazz now. He is an excellent jazz guitarist!
