Thread: Another Bach piece on Mandolin

Default Another Bach piece on Mandolin

    Hello,

Another video of me playing some bach, this time it's invention #8 on mandolin and bass (bwv 779)...which quite conveniently fits onto mandolin (I think only 1 low note wasn't playable).

I love playing bach on mandolin

    Thanks for watching!

Very nicely played! It works very well with the bass.

That was grand! Appreciate the MP3 availability as well. That's going in the MP3 player.

    Thanks,

    Magnus

Very nicely done. Reminds me a lot of Simon Mayor, a major influence on me. I look forward to hearing more.

    Peace, Mike.

thanks for the kind words guys!

I've got some more bach pieces lined up, but any suggestions (or even requests )..doesn't have to be bach, but classical.

Lovely! Curious what your process is like on these. Did you work the arrangements and fingerings out by ear? In what order did you record the instruments?

And also, how did you do the split screen video?

    Cheers, John.

@loess: Thanks! Sheet music (not tab) is readily available online for free if you look around for it...so the fingerings and arrangements I have to work out myself, but are usually quite straightforward.....but I guess doing it by ear would be more beneficial!
I recorded the mandolin first, then the bass over the top...

@Tavy: I guess most people would use software like adobe premier to do splitscreen, but I use a freeware program called AviSynth to do it.

How about Mozart's 25th, Beethoven's Ode to Joy or Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring?

I've always wanted to hear Pavane pour une enfante defunte by Ravel on mandolin + guitar & whatever other instruments necessary. It's a bit slower then what you can play, but it may be a nice one to work on.
