    Default need help with my mandolin

    i inherited this mandolin from my great grandfather and i cant figure out the brand of the mandolin itself it has been frustrating i will be posting pictures of it these are the best ones i have of it so if there is anyone recognizes it please let me know ASAP

    what do you mean kluged together i hope you mean glued together and it isnt it is a original instrument and not fixed up or nothing

    That bridge is not original to the instrument. It's the piece that the strings ride over on the center of the body.

    The bridge on your mandolin is just a piece of aluminum added probably when the old bridge either broker or got lost.

    I understand Brits prefer 'Bodged' as opposed to 'Kludged' , the term is a sort of mechanical improvisation of using what is at hand to solve a problem ,

    where the good is not the same as the perfect, but it will solve the situation, for now,

    it will at least get you back in sight of shore where you can row the dinghy in,
    if not back in the harbor tied up to the dock.

    it sounds like #### cause the strings are old as hell and it isnt tuned at all. those sheets arent mine my computer is in my little brothers room so it isnt my bed at all

    Explanations about the related terms "kludge" and "kluge" can be found here. Both mean quick temporary solutions, which do their job and eventually become permanent. I have used them often myself.
