Thread: Name my Dog...please!

  1. #1

    Default Name my Dog...please!

We just got a cute red Australian Shepherd 18month old with a name we don't like "fancy" the dog is happy and has a bounce in its step but we need to change its name. We have bounced many names back and forth but nothing struck us as "thats the one". Maybe in a place that has nothing to do with dogs or names I might find the right name for this dog. If you have any ideas for this female please list a few.....cause we need to start changing her name soon.

    thanks

Hard to name a pet without seeing or getting to know the little gal!

Agreed....but I'd be happy with a few good female dog names anyways. One important thing is I"m 6'5 and 235lbs and I don't want to stand outside yelling names like princess or fluffy

    Well a suggestion from Australia.

    "dusty"

Red is the clolour of our outback dust. Slim Dusty was a great Australian country musician.

Or you can opt for the traditional name we give to red heads here:
    "Blue" or "Bluey".

How about Corrina? That way if the dog runs off for a while you can start singing "Corrina Corrina, where you been so long".

Molly, Zoe, Cooper, or Lucy...and one of my favorites: Diogi (pronounced...you guessed it..D - O - G) ;-) Which was actually a name of a tri red Australian Shepherd we used to have.

    Ivan
    Weber F-5 'Fern'.
    Lebeda F-5 "Special".
    Stelling Bellflower BANJO

Based on experience, if you don't keep that Aussie occupied you might as well call it "Trouble".......

Great breed of dog.......I have had two of them in my 40 some years and they they were great companions, but you gotta keep em busy.......

congrats to you and your's,nothing like "the puppy day's" i believe in naming dogs a one syllable name..they seem to react more quickly??same going with their commands...sit,stay,house,yard,come,take..ect...ou r current female puppy is Jet..
some of the names we came up with, that i can remember now, were, though not all 1 syllable, Rose,Liz,Zap,Chase,Layla,Bella..
but being that your 6'5 and 235lbs...i can only imagine you standing on your back deck hollering...... "Here Tinker...come here girl".... sorry..i couldn't pass it up...good luck in the naming...cheers
