    Default Werner Icking Music Archive

    Sad News
The Archive has been shut down
the following message appears on the link

"WIMA, the Werner Icking Music Archive, has been closed down.

The Department of Computer Science, University of Aarhus, has been hosting WIMA until now. However, the thousands of daily downloads of sheet music ressources offered by WIMA has caused a very high load on WIMA's web server, thereby threatening the activities of The Department of Computer Science.

There are now ongoing considerations on how to continue the distribution of WIMA scores on another technical platform. Unfortunately I can't say whether these considerations will lead to a useable solution.

    Christian Mondrup, Archive Editor, reccmo@daimi.au.dk"

    This is too bad
I hope someone will be able to host it somewhere else
    Does anyone has more info

That is sad. Actually, I think I was just looking at it the other day, so possibly this just happened. You would think they could join up with another similar site like The Mutopia Project.

    I am very sad

I am new here to this forum, but I have been playing mandolin for a year (only recently taking it seriously). I was wondering if any one had the Bach Cello Suites transposed for violin/mandolin?

Another good free sheet music spot is http://imslp.org/ they have a fairly large collection, but only parts of it can be downloaded due to copyright issues.

Actually most of the music is public domain...the one's that aren't were given permission by the composers (maybe those don't have scores). I haven't checked out EVERY piece, so who knows!

You are right, but they used to have more of a variety (Schoenberg, Scriabin, Bartok, and some other modern composers) that has been limited due to conflicts between various countries copyright laws. This is really only applicable to early 20th century music
