Andrew, those are awesome! The sunburst is absolutely perfect! I love the inlays, especizlly the one in the pickguard. It just doesn't get any better than that!!
That Trapeze Tail-piece of Ebony is intriguing , uses Ball strings one presumes ?

Very Nice!!
Andrew,
They look great ! I'm glad to be on the list....TT
Gorgeous work, Andrew! I predict there will be some happy folks across the pond in a few days.
Tasty indeed. Well done, Andrew.

Very pretty, Andrew!
How can I not like these?!?
Better and better, Andrew!
Please. Just make it stop...

Inspiring to see work of this calibre.
Nice work Andrew! Your work is very inspiring.

Thanks folks! That's an octave with the trapeze tailpiece, and it does indeed take ball-end strings, since they're most readily available. I'll see if I can scrounge up a better photo tomorrow.

OK, two things. Firstly I think certain builders (Austin Clark and Andrew Mowry) should be banned from posting their work on the forum as it's just too much to bear for most of us! Secondly, I will be hanging round the customs sheds at Heathrow for the next two weeks hoping they leave a door open and I can make off with one of these - lovely work Andrew, they look great.

Hmm, judging by the photos there appear to be a couple of leftys in there...in which case I think I know who's getting them! Lucky man if it's the case, I spoke to him a while ago and he mentioned he had a mandolin and a guitar bodied octave on order.
Sound's like we're speaking of the same guy, Matt
Here's an old photo of one of those tailpieces. There's a brass strip inside to prevent the strings from wearing the ebony. The strings holes angle down a few degrees, so the strings bear against the upper side of the holes, preventing them from buzzing.

It's always inspiring to see your work Andrew. Nice job! I know what you mean about getting them shipped off. From the final buffing through set-up, everything has to be handled so carefully. And then getting it all packed up and sweating while it travels on a bumpy truck or sits in Customs for a few days, until finally getting an email that everything was received and that the buyer is happy. All I want to do after that is take a nice flamed block of maple and guide it through the bandsaw. Ahh. That's the best.
Very nice, Andrew!

Beautiful Andrew, simply beautiful! What kind of finish is on these?
Thanks everyone, and Mark, I couldn't have said it better myself!
The finish is French-polished spirit varnish. (i.e. shellac).

I got an email from the guy who is getting the 2 lefties (after he spotted my post here) with a few more pics of his instrumnets. Andrew, they look incredible! I'm looking forward to seeing them in the flesh (wood?) one day although sad I won't be able to play them, not being left-handed. Are any of these headed for TAMCO in Brighton??
