try 5-3-3-5 like a open d turned into a barred chord you can use it up and down the neck f.e. 4-2-2-4 is E, 7-5-5-7 is g, 9-7-7-9 is A, so on and so forth. good luck
Don't let anybody try to tell you that you can't chop the 5-3-0-1 F, either.

I like 2-3-3-x for the F. It has everything. The root is on the D string, the 3rd is on the G, and the 5th is on the A. It's a handy shape for a IV chord because the three finger I chord (5-2-3-x for the C) is close by; as is the V chord (7-5-2-3 for the G) and the 6th (2-2-3-5 for the Am). You can play all these same shapes up and down the neck, whereas the popular 5-3-0-1 F is not moveable due to the unfreted A and doesn't work as well as a chop chord (same reason), so it is best used when you want that more open pop/folk sound.

The 5-3-0-1 is easily adapted to an F6, with a nice jazzy sound: 5-3-5-1 (play the D note with the free pinky). This has the 5th-root-6th-root. If you want to get the 3rd in there use the 5-3-5-5 (5th-root-6th-3rd). Both F6th shapes are moveable and of course can be used for Dm.
Well, if you fret the 5301 with pinky, ring and middle fingers, in that order, and rest your index finger on the nut, it's the same shape as a G chop, and it becomes movable. I can and do chop the 5301 F and the open A is not a problem. I hardly ever fret it the way I've just described, but it can be done that way.

Play the low string (G) 2nd fret with your index finger and barre the D and A strings 3rd fret with the middle finger. Your pinkie will be free to play the 5th fret on the E string, if you desire. Your index finger can lay down like a barre if that's easier.
If your fingers are small enough it is not against the law to use a finger for each note.
thank you
