Default Any one know if a Gold Tone GM-50 Mandolin is any good?

I know nothing about this Mandolin except that its a A style and has a solid spruce top and Maple sides. Rosewood fret board and is built to resemble vintage mandolins. It has a reasonable price of $322. It sounded so nice when it was played for me. Is this a bad buy? I am a beginner with an 30 year old cheapo now. Help any one?

In my experience, Gold Tone makes good instruments that are an excellent value. If the one you heard sounds good and plays well, it's probably a good one.

Played a Gold Tone mandolin at a dealer's a few months ago -- don't know if it was the GM-50, but it was a solid-top, and it seemed decent for the price. I'm pretty positive on Gold Tone instruments; I own three, and they've been well-made and good values.
