He may be the individual that paid over $2000 for it on ebay and is now trying to recoup some of his money.

I don't know if he's baked, but the poor thingy looks like it's been. There's a difference beween distressing and damage. "This one is accurate right down to GENUINE celluloid pickguard and headstock overlay, both of which show age as would a vintage instrument!!" Hoo-wee! (Hooey?) That's one way to put it! Aged like a fine casu marzu ... Perhaps that missing chink of pickguard is what he was smoking ...

I heard that Bill had played it one time while the senator owned it, But laying all seriousness aside, I have sometime somewhere in the past saw an Ibanez poster with Bill on it, holding a mandolin, what if that was it mandolin, better take the 530.00 an be happy.

I think the Monroe Ibanez is accounted for. But knowing that it belonged to a US Senator would probably only take about $400 off the selling price -- depending on condition. Better take the $130.00 and be happy.

Geez, and I had a Takamine lawsuit dreadnaught. Sure wish I'd kept it...

(Actually, it was a very nice sounding guitar.)

Have to jump in with a hijack: just back from Berkeley CA where my older son got his political science Ph.D. Speaker at the graduation was Robert Reich, Clinton's Secretary of Labor and a regular on cable news political shows now. He teaches at Berkeley. He talked about his days working for the late Sen. Robert Kennedy, as an obscure intern just out of college. One of his jobs was to run the Senator's "signature machine," a mechanical pen that signed Kennedy's name to constituent letters prepared by his staff. Reich used to amuse himself after hours by writing and signing letters to his friends, such as, "Dear Mr. Nussbaum; Congratulations on having the biggest nose in New York. Sincerely, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy." He joked that these letters now bring top dollar on eBay.

Perhaps he could have signed an Ibanez poster...?

Don't worry about hijacking this thread. It's been off topic most of its life.

Similarly: Friend of mine, Patrick Sky (anyone remember him?), his first wife worked in The Beatles' fan club in NY in the 60s. One of her jobs was signing photos and such. I hope I'm not bursting anyone's bubbles here - I mean, did you really think the moptops had time to respond to all their fan mail?

Then again, I once wrote President Truman, and he responded with a signed thank you note. I prefer to think that was handwritten, but I will never know.

I dunno, man - if you look anything like your avatar, you've got to remember to breathe out sometime!

Kidding aside, if Jim's assessment is correct ...

... then this time around, with a price set at $1599 and two declined offers - well, I just can't quite figure out what he was trying to achieve with this strategy.

But I get the feeling it'll be back ...
