    Default September Song Tab

I love the Dawg version of this from the recent LIving Room Sessions CD. Has anyone figured out the tab for this? I can get through the A part pretty well, but then get lost from there on. Also any comments on the playing techniques used, sounds like there might be considerable use of slides once the song gets going?.

    Thanks.

There are many fakebook versions of this (such as Chuck Sher's New Real Book #2), but you need to read standard music notation. If you want to play many Jazz tunes, I suggest learning to read music.

Yeah, it's an easy melody and here's a link to the chart.

I like the Grisman/Vignola version a lot too. It has been awhile since I've messed around with it but I think it is in a different key than this chart... an easier mando key. Maybe G if I recall correctly. Not that that prevents this chart from being useful for getting a head start on this version.

Here's a video of them doing this tune (incorrectly attributed to Django):

I know this is an old thread, but I have looked all over for some guidance on the mandolin parts of this song. The above link is dead. Anyone know of another?

Go to YouTube and search "Django Eastalke Film Excerpt". A fine piece of music.
Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

If you are talking about the video, it won't play on this site but just click where it says "YouTube" on the bottom and it will take you to the clip.

The video owner has disabled sharing on other sites so you have to watch it on YouTube.
