I was searching the other night for some DMB guitar tabs for chords just so I could pay with my CD's. Anyway to make a long story short there where chords that I had never heard of or seen before. No way I could figure it out on the mandolin so I grabbed my guitar and my hands were just too small. I just saw them in concert last week. Awesome group. I wish Boyd would put down that electric fiddle and grab a mando on some tunes though.

Some DMB songs transfer pretty well, Ants, Crash, Say Goodbye, some have chords that are almost unplayable on a guitar, much less a mando. Most of the chord charts I've seen are worthless because Dave "almost" never straps into a bar chord and just strums away. Isolate the guitar work sometime. Its ptretty progressive rhythmicly. He uses lots of doublestops with odd intervals. Its not alot of help but if you see him in concert, up close, you can begin to make out what he is doing, and its unlike anybody else. To hear him tell it, he evolved in a musical vacuum, writing songs that fit his voice before he learned a lot of theory or even how to play simple covers. Hence his style and songwriting are pretty unique.
