Does anyone have an idea what works the best in terms of installing the strap on a "A" series mandolin. I have tried several things but I still don't really know what is the best. I know what I don't like. But what do you do?

Do it guitar style: Fasten one end of the string to the headstock and the other to the tailpin (if your mandolin has one; if not you will not need a strap).

Our mistakes weren't quite so easy to undo
But by all those roads, my friend, we've travelled down
I'm a better man for just the knowin' of you."

Some folks loop it under the extended fretboard. That seems the most comfortable.
Some add a button.
I've learned to handle it on the headstock, but still am strongly considering a button at the base of the neck.
While I haven't learned to use the upper registers of the fretboard yet - I'm not sure I want a button there forever as I aspire to go there. I might not love having it tied to the headstock - but I'm giving it the college try as they say. I REALLY liked having a post at the base of the neck put in on my guitar - as it placed the instrument in a better place and had zero impact on playing. Mandolin I'm not positive, will be chatting up the other A-players I know.
Currently I'm sitting mostly when playing so the headstock method works well to hold it in great position.
Without a strap, I have issues playing for a long period - as the mandolin ends up with bad left hand position and that takes it's toll when I play hours daily.
