    Well, after this recent thread on the "$1200 cigar box mandolin," I can't be too skeptical regarding the prices certain collectors might pay for "folk art." However, the eBay seller seems totally unrealistic, IMHO. Without some unusual history or provenance, there doesn't seem to be much about this "instrument" that would command such a price.

    I think it's fantastic! Made from a single piece of wood using nothing but a Barlow knife and the maker was able to pump gas at the same time! It's a National Treasure!

    And all this time I thought Lloyd Loar was the premier builder of that era. It's absolutely amazing what you can do with a hatchet and a claw hammer.
