After about an inch overnight, we're getting sleet and rain right this moment (or at least it was when I was out at noon). Bracing for ice and snow tonight. I needed to re-string my Kentucky anyway, it was sounding pretty thin on the ground (as opposed to the snow, which is about five feet in our front yard right now since we have no place else to pile the stuff when we shovel out the drive). Ah, well. I'm thinking of bringing a mandolin to work tomorrow just in case we get snowed in and have to walk over to the hotel next door.

0〫F today and 37〫F tomorrow, we still have our 2' of snow.
Grandson on the way for to spend the night this evening, snow on the way. I'll be making snowmen and snowangels between giving him his guitar lesson on a 1/4 size nylon string. Hope I can squeeze in a little mando.

Due to current budgetary restrictions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off -- sorry about the inconvenience.
We were sitting out in nearly 70F weather drinking beers Friday afternoon and our low last night was -8F without the windchill. Quite a swing. At least we didn't get too much snow. The weather is always interesting in Colorado.
We had sun shine and 77 degree high on Saturday. T shirts and hiking all day and now 19 degrees and Snow Thunder on the way.
We're supposed to get up to 2 feet of snow here in Milwaukee. We already got hammered last night; that was round 1! Driving on my street was a challenge; like driving on somebody's lawn with a foot of snow!
I'm glad I'm off work tomorrow!!!
Aw, come on, it's not that bad. Right here where I am we've had 43 feet of snow over the past two weeks. Had to chop some trees down in the back yard to prop against the glacier to keep it from getting too close to the house. Down to three kids. Have good recipes if you're interested.
You guys must be north of the Merritt (or Wilburcross, depending). We've had more snow down here than my daughter in Vermont!

Nah, we're on the shore, east of New Haven. It's a very strange scene. We've never had this much snow in this short a time that didn't melt. I bet we have the same as most places in Ct, but we've had more than all the rest of New England, which is odd indeed. The only bad part is that I wrecked my shoulder shoveling, so playing mandolin right now is a little painful. But hey, that's what they make hallucinogens for, right? Or was it painkillers?
Durn white out currently here in E. Iowa. It never did this growing up in Alabama... Kinda freaks me out. Changed the strings last night, so hope to break them in over the next day or two.

...I wonder how the old folks are at home...
My new instruments from Andrew Mowry were supposed to arrive today. What do you think the chances of FedEx making it ?
Being snowed in with the mandolin - it don't get much better.
OUCH. Not great. But congrats on the great new instruments!!
Ah, dreams of the Caribbean. Stuck home with 12 inches of snow and still coming down here in Missouri. I've played every mandolin and fiddle tune I know until my arm is locking up. Now relegated to watching cable tv. Ugh!

A little sun and 10 above, we'll be scoopin snow in our shirtsleaves.
Glacial. I like that word.
I love snow! Nothing worse than a half winter with nothing but rain and ice. Give me cold temps and good snow.

We got about 1/8th inch of ice on the leavings (about 8 inches) of the 14 we got last week. Supposed to get more tonight in the Philly burbs. I hope Jersey gets spared this round. They've been hammered this season.

Mushy sleet on the south coast of New England, but I teed up President Garfield's Hornpipe for memorizing tonight/tomorrow anyway.
Just got done practicing some out on the porch, shorts, T-shirt, bare feet. Now watching some tube, window open, fan running. Y'all come on down! And do it quick, before they close the airports.
Charlie - kids are tougher than you'd think, nor as lean as you'd like. Best bet is stewed, lots of onions and root vegetables - turnips, parsnips, taters, and carrots. Might have to skim the fat twice.

Out on the porch in bare feet!
It's currently raining ice daggers here...I could have used a Kevlar full body suite while taking my garbage can to the curb tonight. Looking outside, the garbage can is now completely covered by ice.
