We'll probably watch a movie and snuggle. My fiancée might join in too.

Monday is band night, so I'll be spending two or three hours playing Irish. My husband will be there, too, so it's a win all around.

We're booked. My bandmate always tells the crowd that he's spent more Valentine's Days with me than with his wife!

    1. Practicing with my singing partner Bonnie Abrams for a "one-woman + friends" show she's doing as a fund-raiser for her temple.
    2. Interviewing a high school senior in connection with her application to Harvard.
    3. Having dinner with my wife of 42 years.

Mandolin will only be a factor in #1. And it's "Valentine's Day."

I'll be playing my mandolin at an early morning Valentine's Day event in downtown Portland. Our transit agency (my employer) sponsored a contest asking for stories from couples who met on our system. The finalists will read their stories and we'll announce the winning couple.

Me trying to play, & my Mandolin refusing to participate in the proceedings - as usual. Don't you just dislike stubborn Mandolins ?,

My new girlfriend was staying with me, and I serenaded her into sleep with some mando playing. It was nice to see her settle in comfortably and begin to doze off while I was picking. She says she likes it when I play music, which is flattering considering that I'm still a beginner. No particular choice of tunes for the day - her favourite was the "Little Maggie in the Wood" hornpipe.
