Smile South Indian Classical Carnatic Mandolin

Hello! I am trying to enter the huge mandolin world as a fulltime performing artist and would like to share with everyone some interesting info about the type of mandolin, I play. My guru, Shri. U. Shrinivas popularised the electric mandolin I play. The Indian classical music emphasises on the 'pull and slide' style of playing. Enormous stress is given on improvising and extempore presentation, with and without beats. To suit this style, my guru, Shrinivas has adapted from the original 8 strings to 5 strings and designed an electrical mandolin. To get a better idea, you can please watch my youtube videos through these links. Pl post your comments....

Hi Bhargav, Nice playing in these videos. You must be fortunate to learn from Shrinivas. I actually want to learn carnatic and thought of mandolin. Can you please suggest any good teacher who can teach me both individual as well as online if required. Who can teach complete carnatic theories, parts such as pallavi, etc? Hope you can help me.

    Hi Bhargav,

Thanks for your reply. I'm in Chennai and sometimes will go Mauritius till one year. So When I'm in Mauritius I want to learn face-to-face classes and when I'm abroad I want online class with same person. I contacted Mr Mandolin prakash but it seems he is busy with sessions and delaying to start classes. Do you suggest any teacher who teaches good? I'm aged 30 and know basics of carnatic and I'm a composer so only thing is practise which I should concentrate on the instrument. What is your opinion about Mandolin UP Raju? I called a number from your website which your grand father spoke with me. my number is 9884114847, I am not getting alert from this website when you reply so can you message my mobile or mis call so I can contact you right away?

    Thanks

    anil
