I found, in an old defunct letterpress printing shop, a fantastic work table... 3' x 7', 3" thick maple top, 7 drawers, Oak base finished on all sides. Work seated or standing. These tables were common in all hot type printing shops. Their negatives are that they are usually large and heavy. For these reasons they are usually quite reasonable in price... I paid $15 for mine. I suspect one would have to pay $600 for a similar modern table... if you could find one built that well.

It is perfect for mandolin building as when not in use for mandolins all tools and materials would fit easily in the drawers. In addition, of course, it is a fine piece of furniture and functions well in any home where antiques are appreciated.

I realize there are not many of these still around... but usually old industrial work tables are far better than anything made today.
