Default Black Crowes in London 13 7 11 Luther on mandolin

saw the crowes last night and was happy to see Luther bring out an acoustic plug in mandolin. I saw the roadies tuning up his mandobird before the show so I anticipated him playing some, but he stuck with the other model (which i couldn't name). he played on Garden gate, as would be expected, but then stayed with it for a bluesey number which my fuddled brain can't name without checking the song list. It was quite high in the mix and he seemed very proficient. Played a few simple chords on the first number but then let rip on the second. It sounded very at home in what the Crowes are doing right now. For the encore Jimmy Page came out and ended a fantastic show in real style. If the crowes don't come back (as rumours suggest) then this was a fantastic way to bow out. I'd forgotten how incredible music can make you feel. The show has put apermanent smile on my face.

Oh man, that sounds like a fun time for sure. Do you remember what song they encored with? I'm a big fan of Luther and his other projects too. Add him to Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes and I'll chalk that up as a top 10 moment. Did you see any tapers?

Yea, they encored with Shake Your Money maker. Luther took most of the solos. The second tune he played mandolin on was Downtown Money Waster - imagine that on mandolin!
We saw Jimmy Page hanging around at the side of the stage during the second half of the show and hoped he might play. When he ambled out for the encore the crowd went mental - I mean really insane joy. It was an astonishing show.

Editing: Wav -> WinOnCd 6 (tracked & edited: the first 28 minutes i had the zoom on the railing, then the security at Shepherds Bush forced me to remove it from there. so the rest of the show is from the armrest of the seat -> i raised the volume from that point onwards so it's hardly noticable and still sounds rather good to me) -> THL (sbe fixed, flac level 8, ffp)
