The Mandolin Cafe is a long-time supporter of the International Bluegrass Music Museum and in particular, their efforts with the annual Bill Monroe Mandolin Camp. We've put our money where our mouth is for several years now in support of this important event. Curious if anyone here is attending. And for those of you considering, we can safely recommend this as one outstanding experience right in the heart of bluegrass country and surrounded by about as much historical information within the museum as you can imagine.
If you have attended, please chime in. Naturally, I'd like to see this experience happen every year and be self-sustaining. In order to do that, the museum has indicated to me they sorely need about 10 more students to round out a successful camp.
Happens September 9-11, 2001 in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Staff: director Mike Compton, Dr. Richie Brown, Roland White, David Davis, Butch Waller. In addition, luthiers Will Kimble and Paul Duff will be on the premises serving as mandolin doctors!
Great chance also to gaze upon Monroe's headstock which is now in public for the first time in years.
What say?
