Yep! Pull over, buddy, take your hands off the instrument. You are under arrest for playing too many notes in an unrestricted manner and utilizing unauthorized interpretation of standard material.

Reckless Noting. Not as dangerous as driving, but still a careening joyride.

    Love the Bluegrass Police patch.

I think one of those fellers was playing in the wrong key. I couldn't tell which one it was.

I agree I would have had no idea what they were playing -- but it was hot. Why call the Bluegrass Police to a Jazz session wouldn't be their jurisdiction would it?

I think that the clip was meant to be very 'tongue in cheek' indeed. Anthony Hannigan is a very good Mandolin player judging by some of the things i've heard him play - it takes great skill to play such c**p without busting your sides laughing !,

There's really no need for such excessive noting in these parts. Just because one "can" doesn't mean one "should". ?? Or should one?

Funky. I say the BG police are out of their jurisdiction in this jazzy jam. I appreciated their sense of humor and style here.

My understanding is a joint task force was formed to deal with this situation. The Jazz Police were unsure how to proceed as they had had so little familiarity with the weaponry and its capabilities, and called in the BGPD for backup. At least the FBI* weren't called in. They do everything by the book, and when there is no sheet music involved, or other printed matter, they get a little antsy.

Here another direction to turn with this piece of music that is quiet different and very satisfying!

I for one love it. It ain't bluegrass, but very, very nice jazz. Got my feet a tapping. The second video is ok, IMO, but not nearly as creative. I know that musical originality and creativity scares a lot of folks, though.

I love this clip and having played the song recognized it after a couple of measures. It's fun to shake things up now and then. Puts a smile on my face. (so does hearing peoples outrage about the performance.)

You might not like it but these guys can play.

Thanks for the old Rodney Dangerfield clip, Spruce. Forgot how much I missed him. Was he ever funny! Parts 2 & 3 are also funny, but not appropriate for here. Comedy these days is more often rude than funny; Rodney was both, and the rudeness was directed at himself more than the subject matter or the audience - and it was still funny. Great stuff!

Maybe what GG & AH are doing should be called "New Dangerfield."
