Corn IS my middle name. If you couldn't get that from a lot of my posts, listen in to the webcast sometime. If they ever let me near the mike, what you hear will be something like

Well despite the occasional non sequitur randy bits of unsavoriness (I mean the posts about eating factory chicken bits), this thread shoud endure--dealing as it does with rigorous metaphysical inquiry.

I was telling my daughter that the new "transcendental physics" of consciousness should be represented by cogito ergo sum'mo . . . but it just made her hungry for toasted marshmallows and graham crackers..

Which, btw, impels me to ask the philosophical question: why isn't there a "smore" smiley icon...?

Geez bill, is there something you want to say? Are you choking on a chicken bone? Either way, spit it out!

But your posting has the opposite effect of keeping the thread alive, capisce?

It's the message board equivalent of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, which more or less states that observing an event interacts with that event. So saying a thread is dying keeps it alive by adding another post to it, just as saying you're lurking means you're no longer lurking. The only way to end a thread is to stop posting to it and hope all else will, too. Feather or not there is something you are dyeing to say. But quips do have minds of their own, don't they? And bringing Heisenberg into the thread opens a whole 'nother can of who-knows-what. You see? Shoulda left bad enough alone!

JB, you are so right. See? I just did it! But I do think we can drag Schroedinger's (sp?) cat into this. Off in our own little worlds away from the chicken coop of MC, we can wonder if this thread is still alive. And wonder. But you won't know until you actually go and look. Not measure by posting, but I think a sideways glance won't breathe new life into it. Unlike this very post. Perhaps the thread is on Chicken Pulmonary Resuscitation.
