Outstanding, if irreverant CD! As Bob mentioned the service and delivery was absolutley amazing. The content and musicality is both fun and different from the normal seasonal schmaltz. It brings it's own kind of schmaltz.
If you want something entirely different for the Christmas holiday's this will do it.
Oy Veh! - will it do it. Wait til you hear their version of Jingle Bells sung in Yiddish ...
Mandola fever is permanent.
My personal favorites on this one are the "Pipeline/Wipeout/Surf Music" sections of "Little Drummer Boy", the "For a Few Dollars More" Spagetti Western flourishes on "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and one of the most beautiful and soulful renditions of "Away in a Manger" that I have ever heard.
A fun holiday CD with some nice mandolin parts in it!
I got this CD last week and it is wonderful! I think I especially like Jingle Bells sung in Yiddish. But - virtually every cut is an eye opener and both the musicians on the individual tracks and the recording quality is top notch.
Definately worth the price of admission.

There's a longish sort of Review which was in the Dec 10th, Chicago Tribune.
I am still amazed at the quality of the recording and the thorough musical skill set all the players exhibit. And - a lot of Mandolin is used in the ensemble nature of this remarkable CD.
