Default looking for a good book, pdf, etc....

    Hello all,
Been looking for a book or tabs for soft rock.

What I am trying to do is play with the soft rock song with the mando or play solo while I hear the tune in my head. This is the way I learn, is I play the tab with the tune, and then go and jam with it. more of a sight reader right now, while working the ear learn.

It is just hard to find stuff for soft rock, Eagles, camp fire stuff, acoustic tunes, that others might also know, on the internet. So I guess a good tab book would be the best, it will cut down the internet looking time so I can play and grow.

So what do you know, do you have a pdf to share or a name of a book to give me?

If you have link please share.

There are several books that were published in the past few years that cater this genre. I've not seen these nor received feedback on them so you'll need to research that on your own but I'd think this might be a decent start. The author of the Beatles collection below is a member so may chime in.

    Pop Classics for Mandolin
    The Beatles for Mandolin
Rockin' Mandolin (check the amount of rock on this one... not sure)
Just for Fun: Rock and Pop Mandolin

My husband had the same problem. That's why he just started this website (online as of Feb.1,2012) with pdf files containing chords to various songs. Here's the link if you're inerested: http://rdenronden.magix.net/public/index.htm It's still a work in progress for him but just like you he wants to see more rock songs for the mandolin. He says it's a great instrument, if more modern music is available for it then we might generate more interest in the mandolin. He gets angry when people ask if he can play something other than country on the mandolin. So many people don't recognize the mandolins versatility.

We're glad you enjoy the site. He's hoping to have a new song every one to two weeks. It takes time to figure out the chords for the different songs and of course he has to practice it himself so he can put the lesson up correctly. It's funny to see from the other angle, the monitor is covered with papers taped to it with all the chords on it. The newest clip that we'll be putting up this week also has our dog in it. The dog sometimes goes by my husband while Robert is trying to make a clip. This time our dog Joost ( Dutch name, pronounced Yoast) just observed, he normally jumps against my husbands arm so that Robert loses his place and has to start all over with a new take.
