    Default New Girouard Garcia

I just finished up #2 well after #3 was completed. Trying to play catch up in the shop. This one features a red spruce top, red maple sides, neck and one piece back. Vermillion fretboard tortoise binding with side and top stripe and gold hardware.
This one is staying with Girouard Mandolins as a demo model. Many thanks to Rolfe Gerhardt of Phoenix Mandolins for his help with our experiments in finishing with KTM SV.

Thanks guys! I should mention that this is #2 of 3 Garcia model mandolins I made. I have actually built around 20 instruments (A style and a few F's) so far. I'll take a video clip of it soon and post.

Max, the mandolins that you and Lauri are building are exceptional.
I consider myself remarkably lucky to own one.
I look forward to watching the progress of Girouard Mandolins during the new year and beyond.

    Hi Max,
I was just checking out your website after seeing the comment that you left on my latest twin-point.
Love the Garcia model, so good to see something different. Great work!
    Cheers Gary

Ok, I have been thinking about this for a bit (apparently 2 days). Does the Garcia model come with a case? Are the "horns" hollowed out or are they only cosmetic?

    Beautiful work Max!!

For those who have lustfully followed this thread...
Max has just posted one of his Garcia 2-Point mandolins (a demo model) up on e-bay.

Max, I've seen a couple of your Garcia models before and I just have to say, as a big-time Deadhead and a mandolin player, I LOVE this design! Wish I had room for one at my house. It would be super cool to see you put a Tiger inlay on the headstock like Jerry had on his guitar, or the earlier Wolf guitar inlay, or a Steal Your Face lightning bolt.

For those who might not be familiar here's an overview of Tiger by its maker, Doug Irwin:

I'm sure the lightning bolt logo is copyrighted.

I just bought Max and Lauri's Garcia demo model, and it is an absolutely unbelievable instrument. Plays great and sounds even better. I couldn't be happier with it!
