Default OK to leave Lakota Leathers strap on mando in case?

I just bought a beautiful Lakota Leather flat strap for my Kentucky KM-1000. The strap is extremely soft, made of American bison by the Sioux Indians at a reservation in South Dakota. My question is whether or not I need to take it off of my mandolin before putting it in the case. Can it in any way harm the nitro finish?

I don't know about the nitro finish but it hasn't hurt the varnish on my axe. Love those straps and I love where the money goes.

I have several Lakota straps on my mandolins, ukes and guitars. I have bison, elk and deer hide versions.

Zero problems on varnish or nitro.

And, right on, Mike, I like where this goes, too.

I have a different leather strap that I leave on a lacquer mando 24/7. I don't think it'll hurt anything.

I leave my Lakota round on my Gallatin A in the case, no issues at all. It really helps the Lakota, it is a worthy cause and a great product...

If you're really worried about it, you can always place a polishing cloth between the mandolin and the strap. I always like having a cloth in the case anyway.

Although I've seen loads of people remove straps before putting instruments in cases, over the last 40 years, I've never done so.

The only time you need to worry is if your strap contains vinyl which can eat into an instruments nitro finish.

The money goes to the Native Americans (Sioux) who make them.

Thanks, everyone for all the good advice. Now if only my playing ability were as beautiful as my mando & strap! But all in good time, I guess...
