Another great and related read is “Gram Parsons, Calling Me Home” by Bob Kealing. The book covers Gram and Emmylou’s influence by the Louvin Brothers.

I read it last summer and could not put it down, not only is it about the challenges of living as performers, but it's an honest peak into a world where the technology was quite different and the approach to problems showed a lot of creativity, community and strength of the human spirit, all the weaknesses along side it as well.
Charlie Louvin is as real is the day is long, I highly recommend it to anyone interested in recent American history and definitely to anyone who is dreaming of life on the road in a traveling band.

Great book. I wasn't familiar with the Louvin brothers beforehand, but I really enjoyed the book and then started listening to some of their stuff.

This book really brings their story to life. I love their music.

I was excited to see these two-story sculptures at the Country Music Hall of Fame (in the stairs for their theater).

Anniversary of its publication. Until something comes along better, still the best one we've read that's music related since.

Had me going there for a second. My dyslexia reading the thread title thought it said Santa is real.
