    A couple of my mandolins have strap buttons on the heel, or I should say had, I took them off. I prefer the strap on the headstock, it has a better balance and is more comfortable for me.

    I have the strap on my Flatiron A under the fretboard extension too. It's been fine for 30 years, but who knows what might happen in another couple hundred years.
    You can't get there from here.

    Two of mine have a boot lace running under the strings behind the nut. The Silverangel A style doesn't have enough clearance so I had to run the boot lace around the end of the finger board. It's so light it works okay, though. I'm so old I'll be long dead before it cuts through the body.

    This is where Will put my strap button. I like it there, and it is securely in the block of wood.
