Thread: give away

  1. #1

    Default give away

home improvements (gak!) forced me to shift my instruments onto the two beds in the spare room - embarrasment of riches if ever there was one. i'm going to start giving them away. first to go will be my big-muddy m-0 - to the only other mandolin player in the village - hope she'll accept it. i've been the beneficiary of random acts of generosity and kindness in my life and i think it's good continue the tradition.

this is by way of a declaration - i WILL! do this.

    mas be gone!

Oh the irony. Scott finally gets to enter in a giveaway that's already given away.

Bill, I always kind of admired that F4 copy you have and I'd look darn good playing it. I'll PM you my address.

If chosen as the winner, I'll provide a detailed comparison between the 1N and the BM - always curious how these two flatops compare. . .

I'd also like to commit to handing it off to another needy soul when and if it leaves my house. Giving instruments away is a great thing, something I've done twice.

Bill, how many will go? I have been trying to do this also but more of giving away luthier's projects. Two bed's worth... nah I prob have a hotel's worth of instruments that should go to more deserving.

Bill thats awesome. Reminds me of the kind gentlemen that lent me a mandolin free of charge for over a year while my Campanella was in line to be built.

I have lent instruments to various people who want to learn. I also gave away one of my fiddles many years ago to a woman. I told her not to give it back but if she wanted to move up in quality, to give it to another person who wants to learn. I love the idea of giving it to someone who could otherwise not afford to buy one. Bill you inspire me to do some more of this.

don't know to whom or when ... but the good charango is going; the two bagpipes (highland and bulgarian gaida) i'll probably donate to a medieval group nearby ... the 2 guitalele's will go to the music school, for those tiny fingers here in town. i've got plans for the f-4 (sorry mike) but if they don't work out, you could be in the running. the viola (beautiful sounding instrument - just lovely) will go to an amateur orchestra in montepulciano ... i'll burn the cheapie german "thing" i stupidly bought off ebay (inexpensive kindling) ... the canary island timple is up for grabs, should anyone want to pay for shipping to the states (and accepts the risk of it being held in customs for some extortionate sum of money or being damaged on route) ...

what i want (i have a dream) is to keep one charango for oldtime's sake, my m-4 mid-missouri, my trusty-rusty loar lm600, my old german fiddle and a pochette - 5 instruments in the house ain't bad.

Didn't you recently buy a German bowlback with an odd soundhole? That Wunderlich Edvard Much model? No mention of that one. You know this one:
