I don't know if you have Tableedit but if so the tab is here.

There are many sources of it available in standard notation. Some are noted in this thread.

If you need a pdf of that tab I can make it for you. You can download TEF reader for free here.

Very nice version by Caterina and Mike. You should also listen to the original by Jacob:

Another American jazz version by Howard Alden

Thanks for posting Jim...great to see all those horn cats playing with Howard in the key of A natural. And not a single capo!

Got to watch Howard at one of his regular NYC gigs recently. After chatting a bit about choro, he decided to play one for me. You know how a full choro ensemble has a seven-string guitar, a bandolim(or flute),and a cavaqhino? He did all those parts by himself on his seven string! Effortlessly.Beautiful. Amazing..

For the original poster, Assanhado is also in Mike Marshall's choro book

I actually remember Howard many years ago at a banjo convention out on LI. I think he and Frank Vignola were the young turks back then. Eventually they both switched over to guitar and different genres. Both are favorites. I prob still have a cassette or two somewhere of Howard's.

Don: I would love to see a sax capo.

    Hello Mandolinist Colleagues,

My personal interpretation of fast moviment of choromuisic "Assanhado" of Jacob of bandolim is transcribed below. To make easy, I adopted the number notation system: the first number is corresponding to string (E=1; A=2, D=3 and G=4) and the second number is the fret number (zero is open string). The numbers in brackets are tied notes!

Please, feel free to comment/adapt or correct. Enjoy !!

    Musical Regards,

Hi Carlos: Sorry, I can't figure out your tablature. Personally, I find notation much easier to read. Maybe others can play form that, tho. It may just be me.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for posting the tablature in pdf format. Actually I got to download it in past time. My contributions for this tab are the some specific changes/corrections for part defined from compass 26 through 60 (fast moviment).

Since that I do not have the licence for Tabledit software, I transcribed it using number notation system (see my msg posted above). As soon as possible I will transcribe (by hand) my personal interpretation and I will share it with you and other mandolinist colleagues.

Again..tks for your recommendations and good tips.

    Musical regards,

    Carlos Gomes SJK-SP

    Hello Mandolinist Colleagues,

As committed, you will find attached, in tablature format, my personal arrangement for the choromusic "Assanhado" composed by Jacob do Bandlim. This new version is based on my personal musical perception as well as on the tabledit file posted previously by Jim Garber on 29th October 2012 (see msg above). I would like to thank the mandolinist colleagues Jim Garber and Don Stiernberg by technical discussions and contributions.

Please feel free to adapt, improve and/or correct if it is necessary. Enjoy !

    Musical Regards
