Wonderful, as always.
Does anyone else wish he would start playing some different movements publicly? It's only the E major prelude (this one), or the D minor gigue. I'd love to hear the finale of the C major Sonata (my personal favorite) or maybe even one of the fugues, just to change it up a little
There are some videos out there of him playing the Presto from the G Minor sonata, but that's about the only other movement besides the two you mentioned I've seen.
This reminds me, he did mention in the last Cafe interview that he was going to be recording an all-Bach album soon. I wonder if there's been any progress on that. I'm hoping for a mandolin rendition of the D-minor Chaconne
Chris Reber
From seeing Chris live a whole bunch and collecting bootlegs I've heard him do:
The E Major Prelude
The G Minor Presto
The 2nd, 3d, and 4th movements from the B minor Partita
All of the D minor Partita (including the Chaconne)
It is my understanding that he is pretty familiar with all 6 sonatas and partitas and plans on recording them at some point in the not too distant future.
At his solo shows in NYC a couple months ago he played entire suites interspersed throughout his set.
He played the four movements of the B minor partita at the show I saw, and I think he did the G minor sonata a few days later.
He also mentioned that the Bach album was coming soon, but he didn't give any specifics.
It was an awesome show. I was standing a little further to the left. Thanks for posting.
had a chance to talk to the Punch Brothers sound guy and he was an awesome guy to talk to. Thile is recording and touring an All Bach Album in 2013 from what he knows. I'm looking forward to it.
