    Default Oldwave #312

I managed to lose the first photos of this mandolin and thought I'd repost more recent ones. Here's a compilation of some from today and from 2008. Built in June 2003, it will be 10 this year and has as delicious a sound as ever. Unfortunately, I don't get to play it nearly as often as I'd like.

I thought my love affair with oval hole mandolin is over until I saw these pictures.... how could you do this to me?

Beautiful and a great color top as Jamie had said.

I'll play it for you if you'd like.

I should really be practicing instead of sitting in front of the computer.

There should be some kind of law that everyone own at least one Old Wave. The world would be a better place.

    Thanks, all. It's a great instrument and I'm a lucky guy. :-)

I managed to find these first photos of the instrument the other day. Thanks again to Bill Bussman of Old Wave Mandolins. I still regret not getting one of his arch top octave mandolins to match when I could afford it.

I wish I was. I have two children in school and most of my time goes to them. I am thinking about taking it out though and starting to practice jazz chords so I can back up my son on saxophone. It's either that or break out the bass and give that a workout.

Learn jazz chords and the mandolin would work pretty well backing up a saxophone. I'm taking Matt Flinner's online Swing and Jazz Mandolin class and quite surprised how quickly he got us up to speed with 3-note chords. The mandolin really does work for rhythm and lead.

I may just give it a go. Thanks for the encouragement.
