Brilliant book.
If you were only going to read only one book a year, this would be a great choice. I wrote a fairly extensive blog about this one complete with notes and pictures on who owns Ira's classic fire flamed Martin mandolin. I really think it's one of the finest music biographies you're ever going to read and one that's so good you can't put it down.
