Only partly. It wasn't bad really, just uneven grain, wide toward the edges with compression grain, some brown streaking, and a faint stripe of "blue mold" in the center. It was a piece of wood no tonewood vendor would send out to a customer because it would just be returned, but as I said, it is a great piece of top wood. If I had stained this one by rubbing alcohol (or water) soluble dyes on it, it would heave had the "racing stripe" in the center, except that I would have avoided it because I would have known from experience to look our for it.
