Don't seem to hear from Jill McAuley these days. I always rather enjoyed her input.
You all right out there, lassie?

I have asked myself the same question. Long time since she last posted on the SAW group.
the world is better off without bad ideas, good ideas are better off without the world
funny i was thinking the same myself last night while enjoying her tenor guitar videos, hope she's well.
I see her last activity as being the 18th of January this year. I think that is an auspicious sign. She should know that she is missed. She is a great resource. Here is a video from her youtube channel.

Now that is something I too have been wondering. Jill, if you are still a frequenter of this site give us a wee message - we all miss your input and your always kind responses to our own postings. You got me into thinking about tenor guitars.
Thanks for starting this thread, Dagger.
Jill, Wherefore art thou?
I was wondering as well. I was listening to her youtubes just a week ago.
Perhaps she is entranced with the world of the Irish Tenor Banjo, and all things mandolin have taken a back burner.
She inspired me 2 practice & work with Marla. Both of which I do. Miss her blog updates
Jill is one of my favorite musicians. She is also an excellent writer.
I very much miss her videos and her posts.
Wishing her all the best.

I miss her also. There are a few folks here, that if I see their name I'll read the thread (whether I'm interested in the subject or not). She was on that list...

I've also missed Jill very much. Her posts always showed such a kind and encouraging spirit, and her playing is an inspiration to me.
Well, I say we all send her message telling her that we miss her. She made quite the impact here and on the SAW group with her amazing ITM mando picking!
Rob, I jumped the gun here and sent Jill a PM today pointing out that many of us were concerned about her seeming disappearance from these quarters. From her profile it seems she has accessed the site on 1st February. Watch this space!
Yeah, I've learned so much and been inspired a lot by repeatedly watching her videos on youtube. In fact, I'd say she was one of the main reasons I gradually changed from just trying to play bluegrass stuff to dividing my time equally between bluegrass and traditional Irish/Scottish.
I' e always enjoyed her postis and playing. Definitely miss her around here. Hope she comes back soon
I have checked her blog out a couple of hundred times since she stopped posting there. I found it a very enjoyable read. I hope she's OK and busy with other stuff.
Looks like Jill is still MIA?
Her last log in was Feb 1st of this year. I wouldn't call it MIA. Perhaps silent observer mode. I wish her the best.
Hiya folks,
I'm touched by all the concern and well wishes expressed in this thread - my HUGE apologies for being MIA. I do stop in to briefly check in on things but literally never have the time to post or linger long. My job has expanded both hours wise and responsibility wise in the last year or so, tight finances meant I had to shed a few things (both my Zoom H2 and Q3 unfortunately) and instruments (the Black A2Z, the Martin acoustic and the Triple XXX tenor banjo, still regretting selling that banjo by the way) but did add a '65 Rogers Holiday drum kit, been taking jazz drumming lessons for the past 7 months and absolutely loving it. Still playing trad music, so between my stringed instruments and my drums I'm not spending a lot of time online these days. I'll try to drop in more regularly though, and wish all of you the very best!
Cheers,
Jill

Its good to hear from you. Not knowing whats up is the worst. Glad you are well and still in the music.
Hi Jill. Great to hear from you!
With your natural sense of timing I bet you are a killer drummer.
Enjoy the journey.

You'll be great at those triplets on the snare drum!

Great to hear you are still making music, Jill. Been missing your inspiring postings for some time now.
Ha, Jill what a fascinating direction your love of music has taken you now. I was a drummer long ago and can still remember the thrill of learning to coordinate my legs and arms all independently. It's kind of funny but at first I worked hard to play with as much ornamentation as I could fit into a number but with time grew to understand the close relationship drummers share with bassist as keepers of the groove. Too much constant ornamentation from either of you and the groove gets too busy and is lost. I think one of the reasons I was drawn to the mandolin after watching Sam Bush for the first time was the percussive quality of his playing. Anyway enough of this rambling, I think we are on divergent paths. As you learn to play your trap set I'm using Dan B.( our Linux mommy) YouTubes to learn mandolin triplets and ornamentation again.

glad to hear your alive and kicking and still drumming away Jill
