Default 6 Easy pieces by Edward Elgar for Mandolin (Violin) & Piano

I found this little set of exercises in 1st position for the violin by Elgar - on the IMSLP
Petrucci Music Library site - which I thought were a cut above the normal simple 'exercises' you get. Though simple they are tuneful and the piano part adds much to the composition rather than being just a 'backing track'.

I decided against using tremolo ( personal choice) though I would think it could be effective in places. Instead, to get over the 'sustain problem', I upped the tempo a little in some, and added a mandolin G chord flourish at the end of tune D !

As I recorded the piano and mandolin separately, I've created piano accompaniment files to play along with. To these I've added a two-bar metronome count-in. I've also been rather free with the tempo in places, but I think they're easy enough to follow.

    The scores are attached.

They can be listened to at

Thanks for posting these delightful little gems! They're all such lovely little pieces that are far too often neglected by many violin (and mandolin) teachers today.
