The Band on Mandolin?

Any of you know of any great The Band covers on mandolin by good bluegrassers/folksters/people?

They're definitely my biggest influence in the rock spectrum. I've amassed a large collection of covers in my repertoire, and I love playing them both on the acoustic as well as the electric 5 string! So I wonder if any other mandolinists are in love with The one, The only, The Band?? (besides the late great Mr. Helm of course!)

Easily a top 3 band for me. Levon Helm was my first mandolin inspiration (actually a tie with Ry Cooder). Once or twice a year a try to play "When I Paint My Masterpiece" convincingly, and have yet to do so.

I find that "The Weight" works well on mandolin, using the guitar chords, if you adapt them a little in order to properly voice the descending bass line at the conclusion of the chorus.

Scouring Youtube proved unfruitful for the most part! I'd love to hear more, but I guess that means I'll just have to cover them more and more! Haha

Sifted through all the Punch Brothers Ophelia covers, they have some good ones in there, but I half expected a more rockin' rippin' cover by them! All such great musicians, but I think they lacked some spice for it.

Way too hard to find covers that aren't The Weight, Ophelia, or The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie down! So many amazing band songs, and they work so well with acoustic groups! I'll keep my eyes open for future covers! (Just heard an AMAZING reggae version of Ophelia a couple weekends ago by a band called Conscious Roots)

I love the Band and consider Robbie Robertson to be very influential on my guitar playing and songwriting. This is from a practice tape of my brother Phil and I rehearsing for a festival gig. It Makes No Difference is one Robbie's great tunes and no one can sing it like Richard Manuel. This was played on the Kimble Octave I used to own. This tune almost went on my new solo albums, but used While My Guitar Gently Weeps instead. Maybe I'll use it sometime in the future. Would have used it this time, but had a clunker on octave I couldn't reconcile
