The San Diego County Fair (Del Mar Fair) is an incredible Fair/Convention Hall venue that celebrates Bluegrass for a full day out of the 30 days or so that the Fair runs:

PASSES. We will provide a pass for each participant (volunteer, performing band member, band scramble entrant, youth performer) who signs up on time (deadline: May 10). This pass will get the named person and one guest entering with them into the fair for free. We need to have your name (first and last), and your email and mailing address no later than May 10, 2013 in order to be sure we can get you a pass (details at right for different categories of participant). If you are under 18 we also need the name, first and last, of a chaperon.

Band Scramble

The band scramble is scheduled to start at 12:30 pm and go to 2 pm. Read the general information in the column at the left. Here is how to sign up:

* TO ENTER: Send an email to: ncbfcletter@gmail.com with: (1) Your name (first and last) (2) the instrument you play (3) your email and mailing address (4) whether you need a parking and/or cart pass-we'll try to get you one, but can't promise it! If you sign up on or before May 10th we can guarantee you an admission pass good for you and one guest. After May 10 we will try to get you a pass, but no guarantees! If you miss the May 10 cut-off date you can still sign up to enter the Band Scramble after that, including on site the day of the event, but we cannot offer an admission pass, so do your best to sign up early.

* SIGN IN ON SITE: Fill out an entry slip at the Paddock Stage when you get there. Please do this even if you have pre-registered so we know you are there! Please check in at the Paddock Stage at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the Band Scramble.

* RULES: Here are the rules: You may enter on: (1) guitar (2) banjo (3) mandolin (4) fiddle (5) bass (6) specialty [dobro, mouth harp, etc.]. You may also enter (7) male vocalist (8) female vocalist (9) youth [16 and under]. You can enter more than one category, for example, guitar and male vocalist. Vocalists must also play an instrument, there is no separate category just for vocalists. You will be assigned randomly to a band, will have about 15 minutes to meet your band mates and work up 2-3 tunes that you will then perform on stage. Judges will determine winners for best band and in each entry category.
